Commodore JS Dhanoa assumed the duties of Commanding Officer, INS Valsura, the premier electrical training establishment of Indian Navy, from Commodore Gautam Marwaha, VSM at a ceremonial parade held on 23 Jul 22 at Jamnagar. Commodore Gautam Marwaha commanded INS Valsura from 24 May 21 and the unit was awarded the President's Colour during his tenure on 25 Mar 22.
 Commodore JS Dhanoa, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and Naval College of Engineering, Lonavala was commissioned in the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 1993 and has served onboard frontline warships, namely, Ganga, Brahmaputra and Talwar. He has been conferred Doctorate in the field of Underwater Acoustic Communication by the Canfield University, UK. He has held various staff appointments at WESEE, INA and Naval Dockyard Mumbai. He has the distinction of serving as the Defence Attache at the Embassy of India, Jakarta Indonesia. The Commodore is a recipient of VK Jain Gold Medal for applied research.
