Welcome to the Institute of Naval Medicine. This Indian Navy shore establishment at Colaba in Mumbai has developed over the last 46 years into a recognized centre of excellence for occupational health advice, training, and research. 

The history of INM dates back to 1964 when a Naval Medical Research and Training Centre (NMRTC) was established for conduct of research and training in the Navy.In 1974 it was re-named as the Institute of Naval Medicine. 

In 1976, the Institute of Naval Medicine was affiliated to the University of Bombay for training Armed Forces medical officers for post graduate degree / diploma courses in a multitude of disciplines. In 1979, a 30 Bar research human recompression multiplace chamber was sanctioned for the Institute of Naval Medicine.
