INS Dronacharya is the premier Gunnery and Missile training establishment of the Indian Navy. The establishment forms a part of the Southern Naval Command and is situated at Fort Kochi about 8 Km by road from the Naval Base (INS Venduruthy) and 40 Km from the Kochi Airport (domestic and international terminal) at Nedumbassery. 

A large number of courses for officers and sailors are conducted throughout the year. The unit trains officers in surface warfare as Missile and Gunnery specialists, in addition to sailors, who are able to tenet gunnery duties in instructional, staff or operational billets, once qualified.
